Pruning V.I.P. security...........NEERAJ KUMAR loses cover...

The Home Minister did a wonderful job by cutting in on the extravagant security enjoyed more as a bonus by some of the most undeserving souls. It had been a subject of status symbol for the politicians...the more the gun wielding commandoes------------the more prestigious-the ambience. The exigencies of running a coalition govt. has also had its share of cookies and candies..... Parties with as low as 4 M.P.s had hijacked the whole system, thereby making a large posse of men in uniform to guard them. The likes of Amar Singh and D.P.Yadav who hardly have any constructive qs. raised in Parliament are the most undeserving to bag the police protection.

Withdrawing the undesired protection to politicians is one thing , but to withdraw from the officers who have tackled sensitive issues, conducted raids, prepared charge sheets, handled investigations, clubbed evidence........................putting one's own life in danger .......it comes as a dead inspiration.
Neeraj Kumar, Spl.Comm of Police, who once headed the Intelligence wing of Delhi Police and who investigated a few sensitive cases in a stint at the CBI, is one of the most honest men in uniform who has a no-nonsense approach to the subject............ He is one of those with such an imepeccable record who has given D- company's men a chase of a wild goose........ To withdraw security ring of such a person who has fearlessly done his job ..is to shake the commitment and sincerity levels that make up a selfless professional.......

Sparing 377 personnels and withdrawing cover to the likes of D.P.Yadavs.........the all time liquor baron whose son stands accused in double murder is a welcome gesture in the right direction...........but to withdraw from those who earned to have it, is a googly aimed at an audience and not at the pavilion,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

THE SUPREMACY OF NATURE,,,,,,Y.S. REDDY JOURNEY TO ETERNITY..

A politician's life is what everyone must be praying Gods for. King like comforts footed by extavagant tax-payers bonanzas, fooling around with anything and everything, flaunt Govt. resources more lavishly even when austerity drives are enunciated, strength to extract percentages from crores sanctioned for public, being protected by the same police which in normal circumstances would throw 80% of these politicians behind the bars, chew paan and spit in media glare to create a fashion statement, use rustic ground level dialect to swing votes in ones favour, convert legislative educative foreign jaunts to bar dancers of Europe, crosssing the limits of nepotism and jumping heights of sycophancy in spending 650-1000 crores in statues when poor dalits are dying of hunger, collecting hunreds of lacs for celebrating birthdays failing which party goons gun down even high ranking officials, thrashing faculty during campus elections in national broadcasts and courts acquitting the very same culprits for lack of evidence,

we are a nation blessed with 24x7, Z-Plus security even to dalals of parliament.......................

Commandoes, black cats, SPG, red beacon security all around........life is king sized if you are a son-in-law of the Govt. A recent incident in which a Rajasthan MLA Rajendra Singh Bidhudi went for a low division clerk's head just because the clerk dedicated to his work din't see the MLA entering and therefore got delayed in standing up to greet him defies all records of arrogance and venom that penetrates when there are no ground checks for these politicians. Mayawati and Mehbooba can use the best of abuses at their colleagues in vidhan sabha, create a ruckus and throw mikes and chairs but when it comes to

Karnal Singh..the cop and an astrologer.........

I have been a great admirer of Karnal Singh since the time I first saw him as being introduced as the honorary faculty of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. Miles apart from the disgusting picture that precedes Delhi Police and its unprofessional, corrupt and arrogant employees; Karnal personifies a whiff of fresh breeze. A man of pleasing personality, god-fearing and someone who believes in Karma----the ultimate limit of freewill that can change the destiny of a man. As a member of faculty, he is one of the most helping but only within the precincts of the four walls, dedicated and someone who is clear about his perceptions with a command over the subject. As a matter of fact he is quite an admired soul not merely because of his in-depth knowledge over the subject but because of his magnanimity and charm that creates a kind of a halo around him.

All said and done... I somehow don't seem to share his views about the force he represents professionally. My personal experiences in particular have been quite a disaster... the only saving grace lent by none other than the no. two in command Neeraj Kumar, Spl. Comm. in Delhi Police. This is one such service in which even the lowest ranking wields an equal authority as the commissioner himself in relevant proportions. Unfriendly and repulsive attitude, tea, snacks, paan, shopping over the small time road side vendors as an all time bonus, haftas, mullah running into 10-15 thousands for the extended residential constructions, refusal to lodge a FIR, inability to apprehend or rather as to say patronising chain snatchers, small time gangs, rash drivers, hooligans and eve teasers with a small greasing of their hands, the limit I found greatly violated when a close colleague narrated about a drunk ASI coming to him on a theft complaint and oscillating left-right asking irrelevant qs.; or advising the young girls not to come out of the house when she calls the helpline no. on being eve-teased..........is what in short would define the Delhi Police.

The main reason I fathom is the inability and short-sightedness of the seniors who hardly take any rounds of police stations except when the new Comm. is appointed and walk the streets with media hogging the lime lights..........who perhaps are too immersed in their own survival sycophancy oriented posting blues rather than in generating a sense of accountability down to the last in the line.

In this backdrop of practicality of events............Karnal Singh's advice in H.T. dated 31st Aug, 2009 to cooperate with police seems not that easy a nut to digest. If that be so, many girls even after having informed about the advances and perverted behaviors of some part time Romeos to the local police wouldn't have met with either acid thrown on their faces or ended up having been raped or murdered. Many complaints of a ruckus caused by anti-social elements go unnoticed till it takes a monumental proportions and then when media flashes it with a breaking news sequence, we find our good Samaritans coming with latest versions of their constraints .....over the camera. If only the seniors venture into a local bus or walk like a common man on the streets that DELHI POLICE would be what Karnal Singh's views reflect or what Neeraj Kumar, Dharmender, Tajendra Luthra, S.N. Srivastava or Ajay Kashyap are worthy of transforming into............

AS GALIB HAD ONCE SAID---------------Delhi abhi door hai.....................so is the effective policing..........and with gentlemen like these,,,,,,,,,there is still a streak of hope............
