EVER-DEGRADING vote bank politics. THE GUJJAR NARROW -MINDEDNESS.

ITS A DISMAL WAY TO PRESERVE OUR FREEDOM AND MOVE TO A PROGRESSIVE SOCIETY. The recent Gujjar maniac oriented mindset set the tone once again for the deepest hollows of political bewilderness and the vaccum of constructive human ideology that has beset the post-independence generation. Unfortunately , for the generation that got all the comforts and the fundamental rights served on a silver platter-the need to steer the society towards a positive social growth is much of a lethargy sprouted on narrow minded caste ridden inflammatory vote-bank politics.

As the blood-scorched agitation entered its 8th day , India's inflation hit a four year low of 4%. With per capita income at a shamefully disastrous levels of 300-350$ and a spell of oil-price hike imminent, this land of 1.2 billion highly mismanaged human resource force holds the civil society to ransom with treason and arson flaunting even the national assets -"THE RAILWAYS", with the much rustic styled humour delving lalu being a sleepy mouse it its hole. No wonder the small resource-less country Israel with a much patriotic and a better managed thin population has a per capita income of approx. 15,500$ .

Its a paucity of political issues that instead of moving ahead in social recognition and a better place of pride in the civil setup ,the Gujjars have resolved to move into the ancient era of caste based recognition and a fight for a lowly place in society. The political ambitions of one time sepoy in the Indian army Col. Bainsala at his fag-end of life to throw the community into disgrace and poltical turmoil instead of fighting for affirmative zero-ground benefits and facilities for the upliftment of the have-nots is a sad commentory on those who fell into his trap and resorted to violence. To paint the whole Gujjar community into the one not earning more than Rs.18 a day is a laughable joke of the century. Where as this nation still has around 800 million people not earning more than Rs. 30 a day ,the problem has to be looked in its entirity microscopically and not flared on the context of just a 5% population of which they account in the state of Rajasthan. It must be remembered the Gujjars at least in Delhi are a wealthy lot having land-holdings fetching them lacs in rentals, moving in latest stylish bikes costing 50-70 thousand, big luxurious cars ,spending thousands in the gym. for the body buiding steroids, tobacco and guthka expenditure surely crossing the 18 Re. mark set by their leader as their days earnings and of course like any other citizen a happy lot in contributing very generously to the state's excise by virtue of liquor sales, spending fabulously in the weddings and breaking the dowry records each time a marriage in the community takes place.

I would be a better man if these demands for reservation would only be limited to the Re. 18 earners a day,for it would have been a genuine upliftment ,but to include the affluent is a slap on the very policy Mr. Bainsala propagates except for a way he must have crafted to ascend on the national political power houses in his last innings. What so called reformers like him including the more suave and young Mr.Pilot fail to stir in their brethren is to polish their attitude from rustic to a more accepted social climbing ladder with better morals and better health by avoiding booze which is much prevalent in such households, otherwise the GUJJAR of today would be marred in the divisive policies of the national parties as a stick wielding ,abusive ,rash driver whose masterminded the art of bringing the city to a halt by all hooliganism and street tactics. That sure is not the image the much wiser in them would like to project.

FALL FROM GRACE

The melodrama of Indian politics never ceases to exhaust its unpredictable colours. In fact with every election it throws itself to a innovative permutations and combinations with varying degree of degrading and surreptious political manipulations. The much shrewd the Indian politician makes himself out to be - a much smarter ' a deal ' is knocked out of the closet, which our FOUNDING FATHERS would have shuddered to even think of. But the very ingenuinity of the current politician bereft of any penance and sacrifices that was reminiscent in the pre- independence breed of nation builders lies in the extent to which they can auction or crookedly cook a deal even at the cost of morgating the very spirit and essence of democracy.

The recent assembly results in Karnataka and Deve Gowda's unscrupulous last ditch attempt to side with congress after horsetrading the independents is a naked manifestation of everything that can go to the lowest depths in Indian politics. In fact the the sequence of events has unshelved the validity of exit -poll results , the need by the ever hungry media to maintain its TRP quotient and hypering the suspence in its studios eating into much of the national consumer peak time.

Deve Gowda's ditching the B.J.P. would perhaps be known in the annals of hisory as THE GREAT BETRAYEL , the sustainability of much advocated coalition concept failing both at the centre and the state levels. As a key player it was his arrogance , invincibile attitude, immaturity, overconfidence, chauvinism, inability to digest power, shady deals, surreptitous commitments, unfaithful political oppertunism and wickedness that perhaps has put a last nail in his political coffin. There couldn't have been a slap more harder on his political cheek and the one more shameful than projecting himself as the KING- MAKER.

The kind of ruckus he created over Narayanan Murthys anthem scenario and the hull-bulla of corridor syndrome depicts the cunningness that is veiled in the garb of sentimentalising the issues to hogg a short term political limelight. The B.J.P.'s victory over the division of votes of the Deve Gowda's PRIVATE LIMITED PARTY is nothing that the party needs to gloat over. It was more of an anti-incumbancy factor crisped by the sympathy wave due to Gowda's betryal that worked in the favour of the winners. B.J.P has itself been an eyewitness to its major political upheavels during the past. What is required to be seen is which way the power swings in this game of musical chairs at the end of the term and to be a winner all along B.J.P. has to act beyond the ceremonial lip-service in terms of initiating people fiendly and development oriented charter. Otherwise the musical band would be obliging any one of the other parties if the present incumbant becomes a casualty on the very platform it came to power . As for Deve Gowda there couldnt have been a worse fall from the grace having groomed his own political grave with impunity that bordered on political insanity.
